Debate on Journalism in Iran (Paris, Point Ephémère)
To celebrate the 2nd Best Of printed edition, Mashallah News organised a debate on journalism and censorship in Iran. The talk at Le Point Éphémère in Paris brought together Iranian activist Parvin Ardalan and Thibault Lefèvre, founder of Iranian Stories.
Launching of the first Mashallah News Magazine
(Geneva, Café Gavroche)
Printed in Beirut, the first Mashallah News magazine was designed by AMI, a graphic design studio based in Geneva. This special issue was exhibited at Café Gavroche, accompanied by a DJ set and video clips.
Alternative Media Week (Beirut, AltCity)
Mashallah News co-organized the one week program AltMedia Experience, hosted by Hibr, along with other Lebanese NGOs and media initiatives. The Mashallah contribution to the week of activities was running a workshop dedicated to alternative feature writing and hosting a debate about censorship and self-censorship.
Mashallah News Day (Istanbul, Arkaoda)
During this one day program, we organized a conference on the topic of Journalism and the Megalopolis. The event gathered researchers, artists, and representatives from different Turkish media. In the afternoon, Tehran Has No More Pomegranates was screened, with the attendance of the Iranian film’s director Massoud Bakhshi. The event ended with a fundraising concert with Istanbul artists Erdem Can and Fuji Kureta.
Mashallah News fundraising party (Beirut, Zico House)
Three months after the launch of the website in November 2010, the first Mashallah News fundraising party was organized at Zico House in Beirut. Mashallah News was happy to have great local DJs playing in support of our initiative. The evening gathered several hundreds of visitors who enjoyed an eclectic mix of music and visuals.
