On Sunday June 2nd, the anti-capitalist Islamic group “Revolutionary Muslims” [Devrimci Müslümanlar] posted this open letter to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. “Revolutionary Muslims” were among the first groups to occupy Gezi Park in protest against its destruction.

The occupation began with a few dozen people protesting the demolition of trees in Gezi Park by a private company at 2 AM. That morning, the bulldozers came back and tried to continue demolishing the patch of land on the far edge of the park.
